Terms of Service

Last updated: April 2, 2026

By creating an account or using Rubrica ("the Service"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What Rubrica Does

Rubrica is a self-assessment tool. You upload an assignment brief, a rubric, and your work. Our AI analyzes your work against the rubric criteria and provides feedback showing where your work aligns with or misses the rubric requirements.

2. Academic Integrity - Important

You are responsible for how you use Rubrica.

  • Rubrica is a learning and self-assessment tool, not a writing service
  • The feedback is for your personal understanding - use it to revise your own work in your own words
  • The "improvement examples" feature shows what a stronger response could look like - do NOT copy these into your submissions
  • Submitting AI-generated content as your own may violate your institution's academic integrity policy
  • Check your institution's policies on AI-assisted learning tools before using Rubrica
  • Rubrica is not responsible for academic misconduct arising from misuse of the Service

3. Your Content

  • You own your content. You retain all rights to the assignments, rubrics, and briefs you upload
  • You grant us a limited license to process your content for the purpose of generating feedback
  • You must have the right to upload any content you submit (e.g., don't upload copyrighted rubrics without permission)
  • We do not sell, share, or use your uploaded content for any purpose other than providing the Service
  • Your content may be sent to third-party AI providers for processing - see our Privacy Policy

4. AI-Generated Feedback Disclaimer

  • Feedback is generated by AI and may not be accurate
  • Rubrica does not guarantee any grade, score, or outcome
  • The feedback is an approximation - your instructor's assessment is the definitive evaluation
  • Do not rely solely on Rubrica's feedback for important decisions
  • We are not liable for any consequences of acting on AI-generated feedback

5. Wallet and Payments

  • Rubrica uses a prepaid wallet system - you add funds and pay per submission
  • Each submission costs $0.49 USD. Re-submissions on the same assignment are free
  • New accounts receive a $1.50 welcome bonus
  • Wallet funds do not expire
  • Payments are processed securely by Stripe
  • Refunds: Unused wallet balance can be refunded within 30 days of deposit by contacting support. Funds spent on submissions are non-refundable

6. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

  • Upload malicious files, viruses, or harmful content
  • Attempt to access other users' data or accounts
  • Use the Service to generate content for others to submit as their own work
  • Abuse the referral system (e.g., creating fake accounts)
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, or automate access to the Service
  • Use the Service in any way that violates applicable laws

7. Account Termination

  • You can delete your account at any time by contacting support
  • We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms
  • Upon termination, your uploaded content will be deleted. Transaction records may be retained for legal purposes

8. Service Availability

We aim to keep Rubrica available 24/7, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may perform maintenance, updates, or experience downtime. We are not liable for any losses caused by service unavailability.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Rubrica and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of grades, academic consequences, loss of data, or loss of profits, arising from your use of the Service.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms. We will notify you of significant changes via email or a notice on the website.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Australia. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Australia.
